The Tell Clock Tower

Ottoman & civic · Ottoman · 1906

Sultan Abdulhamid’s clock, and the city’s standing place to meet.

Raised in 1906 for the thirtieth anniversary of Sultan Abdulhamid II’s accession, one of a family of towers put up across Ottoman cities. Its hands stopped for years and were restored, and “under the clock” still means one place only.
