The Lion Tower

Citadel & towers · Mamluk · late 15th c.

A Mamluk watchtower on the shore, with the lion reliefs it is named for.

The last of a chain of towers that watched the shore between the city and the port. It takes its name from the lions carved on its wall. The stones are enormous, and standing at it explains why it was put exactly here.
