Palm Islands Nature Reserve
Three islands off El-Mina: sea turtles, migrating birds, and a very rare seal.
Declared a reserve in 1992. Loggerhead turtles nest here, migrating birds stop, and the Mediterranean monk seal — one of the rarest marine mammals on earth — is occasionally recorded. Landing is restricted, and closed altogether in nesting season.
Visiting
By boat from El-Mina harbour, summer only, with permission. Closed in nesting season.
