Taynal Mosque
The finest Mamluk portal in Lebanon, standing on the columns of the church before it.
Built south of the city by the emir Sayf al-Din Taynal over a Carmelite church. It has two prayer halls one behind the other, a plan you will not find elsewhere here. The portal is worked in ablaq — alternating black and white courses — and the granite columns inside are centuries older than the building.
